I have found out that ALL the old ledgers for all their shops are kept in their offices in Orpington.

The address is:   Francis Chappell & Sons, Boundary Place, Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, BR6 9JW.

They will look at their ledgers if you have a query, but you must write in and give as much information as possible i.e. year (and if possible date or quarter) of death, Full name and address if known.
