Richard Looker's (1807) father may well be another man by the name of Richard Looker who was born in 1781 in Cambridgeshire and his Occupation was a farmer. I have not a found a direct link so do not take my word for it, but due to the similarity in names, birth location and the dates, this full well maybe Richards father. I hope ive been able to help, i know with all these richards it may have got abit confusing, any confusion be sure to ask and i will try to help  ;D

You say he "used to cut Lord Chatsworth's hair" -- I take it you mean that he cut the hair of the owner of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire? (The Duke of Devonshire in that case, not Lord Chatsworth!)

I ask, not to be picky, but to suggest that if that's the case, and you know he lived in Derbyshire, then we can narrow the area down a little.

the closest town to Chatsworth is Bakewell.
The closest large village is probably Baslow.
Other small villages which form part of the Chatsworth estate include Edensor, Pilsley, plus others whose names escape me! - but these are (as far as I know) all estate cottages.
The Duke also spent part of the time in his "town residence" on the edge of Sheffield, which was in those days also in Derbyshire; the area is called Dore, the next area along is Totley. I think, but I'm not certain, that Ecclesall Bierlow is the registration district that covered Dore and Totley.

Maybe that will help locate your grandfather!

His death appears to have been registered in 1928 not 1926.

Arthur W Looker aged 35 registered Bakewell, Derbyshire June Qtr. 1928.  Volume 7b page 811.
