Hi,
my only thoughts are that it could be a badly written d at the end, or a bad abbreviation for Connemara. Sorry I couldnt be of more help,
Roofy
Seyer [Bristol and London], Porter [Swindon and Manchester], Lawless, Wilson, Wood, Ebsworthy, Willson [not a typo, have different spellings on different sides of the family]. Also Lawler [London and Liverpool}, Bagnaro and Cavo [London and Maiori, Italy], also Engley/Englie-London, Gloucester and Bristol, Palmer [Chichester and London]. Recently added Greaves [Derbys], Handley Greaves [Derbyshire, London and Swindon]

The first letter looks more like a C than an L. Are there other capital Cs/Ls on the same page so you can compare?

It does look like Coma/Corna or Comel/Cormel but I have never heard of any of these places. Many English census records just have Ireland as POB, so you are lucky to have something extra . . . even though you can't read it! When there is extra info after Ireland it tends to show the name of a County or large city.

Well, there's a place called Castlecomer, Kilkenny, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlecomer) which is given as Castle Coma in a couple of transcribed genealogy documents online:

For whatever it's worth :P

Hi there,

Looks like the last two letters are nd. Could also be Larne although I notice it's followed by Dublin.
Is the area concerned Dublin? I have looked for anything close to this in the parishes of Dublin and there doesn't seem to be any. See the Ireland board on Rootschat. If the person on your certificate had other family living on in the area until the 1911 census of Ireland it may be worth your while searching the census by entering the surname in this link. That would give you the townland and parish. It's free.

Good Luck
