hi there does anyone know of any sources for info on bodimin jail inmates of the early 1900s, just found out my grt aunt was sent there and trying to find out what her crime was?

Hi! The 1891 census for Bodmin Gaol is on website Genuki, if thats any good??!!!

the Cornwall records Office has information on Bodmin Gaol. The one thing that is missing though is the visitor book for 1844. Hope that this helps :)

Bodmin Gaol is now a tourist attraction so they may be able to have a look through their collections if you contact them and possibly show you her cell.

oh thankyou guys for the help, im still trying but getting closer !!
my grt aunt was actually rescued by the nuns of st faiths in lostwithial , and the bbc2 are doing a documentry on it, i have actually been filmed for the this documentry called servants due to be screened in the autumn so hoping that this may help throw up a few things xxx

sorry fizzy her name was amelia jane harding !!! not sure how long she was kept in bodmin as she was rescued ????
