Jarvis family research Wellington
« on: Wednesday 23 March 05 13:12 GMT (UK) »
I am currently researching the Jarvis family of Wellington Shropshire. I know Moses Jarvis was born 1828 married Jane Barnet of Newport in 1852. We believe his father was Aaron Jarvis he died in Wellington 1866 but we cannot find his birth in 1789 nor his marriage to a Mary? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I am at standstill. I have ordered marriage cert for Moses & Jane but while I am waiting.....
Brown - Willaston, Capenhurst & Birkenhead
Marshall, Harrison, Twist, Meadows, Moss - Lancs
Carson - Liverpool & Birkenhead
Connolly, Driscoll, Holland - London & Ireland
Aldred - Lancs & Birkenhead
Jarvis, Barnett - Shropshire
Roscoe - Willaston & Birkenhead
Bennett - Capenhurst
Lamb, Curson - Norfolk
Hastings - Birmingham

From Wellington 1841 Census, address Watling Street

Aaron Jarvis 50 Collier
Mary 40
Emma 15
Moses 12

Next door were

Enoch Jarvis 20 Collier
Mary 20
John 4mth

Seems quite likely that Enoch was the oldest son? Might narrow down the marriage date a bit? All stated born in county.
Wellington/Dawley areas - Attwood, Podmore, Wall
Sheffield - Oxspring
Machester - Clarkson
London - Whiffen/in
Leics. - Wass

Hi,
This is my first time here.
Aaron also seemed to have the name Lewis, possibly a misspelling, but ancestry also has him with Pritchard to his name. I have his death Certificate. I believe he married Mary Lester or Lyster, but can't prove it. I can't find their marriage certificate or her death.
His children were Emma, (possibly married Thomas CLAY),Enoch who married Mary Grant, another Emma and Eliza-are they twins? Then Moses and Rosanna. This is mostly due to Ancestry, so some need proof.
Last January Find My Past had a free weekend-I just downloaded all the Jarvises from Wellington and I am still ploughing through them, but an Aaron is there at least twice, going back to 1701. There is an Enoch in every generation in my family.
I hope this is some help.

If I've followed LynAnnie correctly then her Emma who married Mr Clay should be the twin Emma, not the first Emma.  The first Emma had died, one presumes, with the parents choosing to use the name again.
