Did you also see this on the Kent Archeaological Society website?

Finally, the Reverend Haslewood's researches concluded with a description of one further private burying ground in that part of Smarden Parish known as Obden in which he listed four memorial stones he found there in a hop garden, which was called the Sanders Burying Ground.....

I don't know this link but I do know about the Sanders burial ground from my mum. She has always said that they had their own burial ground in a field something to do with 'differences ' with the local vicar.

Yes, I believe that last entry to be Thomas and the Sarah I am looking for. However, it doesn't give me her maiden name :(

Apparently the burial ground did not belong to any particular denomination and was solely for use of members of the SANDERS family. It came about because of differences between Thomas SANDERS and the minister of the Old Chapel.

3 Trees on Ancestry have him marrying Sarah SIMMONS
Children;
William 1812
Henry 1813
Elizabeth 1816
Thomas 1818-1899
Job 1818
John Godench 1819
Margaret 1821-1902
Christiana 1826

I cannot guarantee the info and they do not have your Esther but I found these 2 Christenings;
CHRISTIANA Saunders, 17 April 1825, All Saints, Maidstone, kent
JANE Saunders, 19 January 1823, All Saints, Maidstone, Kent

No one has the 1841 census with Thomas/Sarah on it, or any of the others that could still be home in 1841. Or Job after 1841. I also cant find Thomas and Esther conclusively. This may be some of them in 1841.

1841 Census
Maidstone,Kent
HO107/490/9/Maidstone

Sarah SANDERS, 50, Clothier
Elizabeth, 20
Margaret, 20
Christiana, 15
All born in County
Christiana married Valentine DRAYSON, December 1845, Gravesend, 5 368

Trish :)

Hi , This is the first time I have posted and I am not sure I am doing it right. This message is intended for member avm228 and members of the sanders family. I wanted to know if you had any information on Esekias Sanders from the Frittenden / Smarden area. Do you know who his parents were?
