I think that, too, Bilge and I also think that they are covered by the 100 years rule and therefore won't be available.  But it's worth a look.

OK, here we go - I'll leave you to spot the journalistic inconsistancies!

Injured in Cycle Accident
Blyth Man Dies in Hospital

An inquest was held at Blyth Police Station this afternoon on Christopher Hanson (45) of 124 Plessey Road Blyth who died in the Knight Memorial Hospital on Tuesday.

Hanson died from injuries suffered when he was knocked down by a cycle ridden by (see pm - just in case) in Waterloo Road on Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred about 1.30 when Hanson was crossing the road from the Market Place.  The cyclist was approaching the bus stand and Hanson had just stepped off the pavement when the accident occurred.

He was picked up by passers-by and taken to the Knight Memorial Hospital suffering from head injuries.  He did not regain consciousness.

The cyclist sustained injuries to his knee and forehead and was attended at the hospital.

Thank you very much for looking up the newspaper report.  It has proved very interesting and informative.  The two were brothers of my grandmother.  As I said before, there was a story given to me by my father which proved not to be a100 per cent but fairly close to the truth.  Now we all know the truth.

The information from the death certificates came from Henry's grandaughter who I recently came in contact with through family tree.

Thanks also for pm.

I sometimes wish I lived nearer the North East so I could go to records offices etc. but moved from Blyth in 1967.

I would also be grateful if you could have a quick look at the other record which was mentioned.

Hi Christine,  I wonder if you ever managed to look up the National archive record that was mentioned by Bilge?  I think it was mentioned that it may be a coroners report.

Thanks Barbara.

Hi Barbara

I must confess that as soon as I started reading this I got that sinking feeling of a job not completed  :-[

I'll make a note of it now and check on Wednesday.

Sorry

I did not realise that you were and feel a bit cheeky asking another favour but would be very grateful if you could look.  The story has proved to be very interesting and am intrigued as to the National Archives mention.

No worries.  I did say I'd check and have completely forgotten.

I'll report back asap (after Wednesday).

Hi Barbara,

I remembered today!

NRO280, as we suspected, are coroners reports:  1937 the year and 42 the record for Christopher Hansen.

The good news is that the archives do hold the details of this inquest but the bad news is that they are time-barred for 75 years so you won't be able to see them for another 2 years.
