restoration of 1890 photo please

can some kind soul help restore an old old photo please. it was found in an attic.

Now ... What was that film    about the ghost picture in the attic!!!! old classic black and white film ...... it only appeared when the girl was there....

!! ;)

any chance of rescanning at 300dpi. This has been scanned at a very low 96dpi and a lot of the detail gets lost when we zoom in to do the restore.

i am so sorry about the quality of the photo, i do not have the original to work with. all i have is what was posted. if you wish to pm me i have no issues sending you the photo i got.

sorry xin, no idea of the film, like you i am holding my breathe on this one, would be nice if i get a result

hi all,

really stuck with this one, cannot think of any other way of posting the photograph, have considered printing off what i got and then scanning it back onto the computer....would this help?

Ho   Ho    ---- I just remembered..the film .. Yea  still got some brain cells...

It was a 'Picture of Dorian Grey'

Its the original scan that makes all the difference.  If this is what was sent to you I don't think rescanning this copy will work.  ??? ??? ???
Is there anyway you can get the person who sent it to you to rescan at a higher res.?

hi irene,

sent an email off to the sender of the photo and asked for it to be scanned at 300dpi, i have been assured it was, only thing i can think of is that it was saved as a bmp and not a jpeg.

when i recieved the photo i saved it as a jpeg and posted it.
