« on: Thursday 08 April 10 21:06 BST (UK) »
Would some one please be so kind as to have a look to see if they can find a baptism
for a Thomas Parrish/Parish born 1820c Mother Elizabeth Father James

I know his sister, Ann was baptised at St Leonards, Bridgnorth shropshire, 3rd MArch 1822,
Would the parish record tell us the mothers maiden name?? If so failing to find thomas could someone look at ann's to tell me please. As i cant find mom and dads marriage either.

Thanks , Kim

Hi Kim,

Was Thomas alive at the date of the 1851 and later censuses? If yes, where is indicated as his place of birth?

A baptism record for a child who is not illegitimate will not normally give a mother's maiden name (however, there are exceptions depending on the parish and date).

hi Nigel,
in 1841 he was married to ann and living in Kingswinford staffordshire. aged 20
I Know his fathers name was James, i cant find him on census. and i know he had a sister Ann who is also in kingswinford in 51. in 61 Ann had her mother Elizabeth living with her so i assume Thomas' parents were james and Elizabeth.

I have found what i beleive to be ann 1822 and another brother johns 1821 baptism in bridgend, shropshire. Father James mother Elizabeth

regards
Kim

lots about the Parishs on
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,449383.30.html

Which was a request for advice and suggestions. And despite the much appreciated help of many people, was unable to locate Thomas' baptism record.

Thank you for adding the link

Hi Kim,

Apart from not all parish registers being available on-line there is the possibility that he was not baptised. Many of the families in my tree have a child who does not appear to have been baptised. From the censuses, baptisms of the other children, settlement examination papers etc many of these appear to be around the time when the family moved. The parents may have just forgotten or never got round to baptising the child. In a few cases there was an adult baptism. In my tree I have one baptism at age 16 in an unexpected parish. I also have cases of baptisms being recorded in a Bishop's or Archdeacon's transcript and not in the parish register.

Keep looking but don't necessarily expect to find a record.
