Maud Wood accidently killed aged 13
« on: Friday 09 April 10 07:56 BST (UK) »
Maud Wood was accidently killed 30 June 1935 aged 13. She is buried in Jarrow Co. Durham cemetery, but the only death that fits is one in Grantham and I would like to know if their is a report of the accident in a newspaper or whatever
Thanks
aberdein

Grantham Library holds copies of The Grantham Journal, if you contact them they will most likely check for free or a few quid.

Cheers

Hi Aberdein,

I will be in Grantham library on Saturday morning and I can have a look on Grantham Journal microfilm for the report and will let you know the details if any.

Thanks Kathy. Just to say that I will be away from home for the next week or two. So I won`t be able to reply to any messages.

Hi

Just to let you know I have found the report of the inquest on Maud Wood she was aged 12 and was thrown out of the car which was swerving to avoid another car that had been overtaking and had to shoot back in front of it.There is a very full report of the accident which happened between Stamford and Grantham near the Fox Inn at South Witham.

I have sent a PM to Aberdein to let him know I have a copy of the report and can send it to him.I understand he is away so he will get the message when he gets back.

Kathy.

I've been following this thread. What a sad story.Thank goodness we have seat belts nowadays.Maud probably wouldn't have been thrown out of the car if they had been in use back then.

Bet Aberdein will be chuffed with that Kathy, well done  ;)
