Can anyone please help me to find children of James McDougall b. May 1823?  He married Isabella Gowans in Nov. 1845 at Rothesay, Bute.

I know they had one son Dougal McDougall who is my g. grandfather.  He was born about 1852 in Rothesday, Bute.

James' parents were Dugald McDougall and Ann Stirling.  They married in January 1819, Rothesay, Bute.

Dugald must have had siblings but I am not aware of any.

Dugald and Ann had six children - Alexander, Archibald, James, Hannah, John and Grace between 1819 and 1834.

I would be grateful for any help.

try freeCEN website for 1851 - rothesay bute
james and isabella macdougall with 2 daughters is a possible
agnes 4 born leith midlothian
hannah 1 born rothesay bute

the IGI(FAMILYSEARCH) would seem to confirm these 2 daughters though has
agnes born rothesay

james mcd. gowans 1 son b. glasgow
james gowans 63 fath. in law widower labourer b. rothesay bute

 :-\  is james gowans the father of andrew or is he really james mcdougall ?

Thanks Ev,

I did not have a wife for Andrew Gowans, nor a birth date for Isabella.  It certainly is a possibility.

Going to Scotland later in the year, I would love to find some "living" relatives first!!  Not an easy task I know!!

I have been flat out all week, so will go into this further on the weekend, but at least wanted to acknowledge your help.

If you use the parent search facility on the IGI you will find details of their two daughters.  Dugald's birth is a submitted record.
