I have found Michael's English army papers stating that he was born, REYSALL, German state. around 1738.

I have been searching for this state/town and cannot trace it anywhere. 

Could you please help me with this, so that I may find his birth record and parents name etc.

I see the details on the national archives.  Do you have the actual paperwork, I just wondered if it looked like Reysall on the actual documents.  It also says German States and that covered a wide un-unified area in the 1700's.

I think it could be RIESEL. 

Because I found this when I googled - looks like he died in Chelsea Hospital in 1812.

I did view the document on microfiche at The National Archives in Kew, and it is transcribed exactly as on the original document.
