« on: Friday 16 April 10 19:42 BST (UK) »
m.Annie May Cook @ Sudbury, Essex June 1930.

I am trying to determine John Sparhams parents so i can see them on the 1901 census and trace back from there.

I am oredering his birth cert, but if anyone can help in the meantime I'd be very grateful.

Thank you.

If you ever find links to Sparham in Framlingham - happy to talk  :)

However, as your reference says 'Sudbury Essex' then it is probably All Saints Parish in Ballingdon, the Essex end of Sudbury (the river Stour is the boundary between Essex and Suffolk and runs through the market town of Sudbury).

There are two other parishes in Sudbury St Gregory and St Peter.

You might be lucky in finding info from the All Saints PRs?

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

Hi Anna, my friend - You are correct re: 1908, and thanks for the additional info from the death cert.
I promise you, this will NOT be as difficult as dear old Thomas Richey and Emily Hilton Seal Wood  ;D

Kind regards
Darren

Thank you for that very helpful ino re: the parishs and division of Sudbury, Pat!

I know there is a strong connection to Glemford, Suffolk also.

I was surprised to see Sparham to be as a commom a name as it is in Suffolk, I thought it would be semi rare.

I'd love to be able to get one foot into the 1901 census, but rather frustratingly, he was born in 1908 and his future spouse was born in 1903.

I was hoping to locate Sparhams (his parents) in the Sudbury area on the 1901 census.

The tricky part is, not being familiar with Suffolk, having to keep checking the locations to see their proximity to Sudbury!

Glemsford and Sudbury not far away from each other, and they both have strong connections to silk weaving and later, to coconut mat weaving.

I would offer to check the All Saints PRs in Sudbury Library Local Resources Centre but I am grounded at the moment with Labyrinthitis.

Perhaps another Rootschatter might be able to do this for you ?

You will need to pay to see the transcript or image.

Rootschatters are not allowed to do look ups of the 1911 due to copywriterules.

Thank you Carol! great lead!

I purchased credits for 1911 and located them as you described.

John does seem to be a latecomer with his parents age (esp the fathers really).

Thank you again carol  :)
