Jaq,
I guess I am looking at both census.  As for the town area, I am not sure, but it is in Lincolnshire.

Hi there

On the 1891 census there are 4382 people with the surname RUTTER.

58 of the above Rutter's were born in Lincolnshire and another 58 were actually living in Lincolnshire at the time of the census in 1891

Hi,
I have the Lincolnshire web page on my computor.  Among features it shows the towns/cities and offer me a chance to meet living people in Lincolnshire.
Using the map and my last name, Rutter, I have come accross a number of possible hits.
Is there any way I can know for sure save for sending them a letter.  And if I did, seeing they are English, would they think I am tackless?
