The uniform is definitely LOF and the cap badge shows it to be post 1927. The lanyard indicates most likely Britain but similar ones were worn in other areas.

Does anyone think these uniforms, of my grandfather and his brother, are the same uniforms shown in the above A.S.C. picture, with made up colouration on the tinted belts and collars. Would it have been possible, that each went to the Bulford training place, and then split, one to the R.F.A. the other to the A.V.C..??
Trying to piece this all together is incredibly difficult without the aid of descriptions on the reverse side of the pictures...

Just a thought aabout AVC and the ASC Corporals' Mess. The AVC dealt with animals - horses and mules mainly. The ASC dealt with transport. As the ASC used large numbers of horses, they would need expertise from AVC and probably had attached AVC personnel in the unit. An AVC corporal would very likely mess with the ASC corporals. Can you detect any slight difference in uniforms within the group photo?

In the mess photo, the rear left and rear right have different coloured collars to the ASC corporals, tend to agree that they would have been AVC messing with ASC.

Intersting and varied thread! never heard of the Frontiersmen, but doesnt surprise me, its about the time of the formation of the Boy Scouts, a loyal paramilitary organisation for boys (if you get my meaniing, dont mean they were terorists!)

Quite so, the photograph is a compendium of uniforms, one assumes the two guys in the front, have double row buttons, as they were officers, but, they all seem to have white belts and not coloured, plus, the width differs as well..weird.
Doubly interesting, is the news that the Lof F, organisation is still extant, and under a different name these days...so much to learn, so little time..

I am not up on uniforms but maroon is the authorized regimental color of the R.A.V.C., so the collar and stable bets appear to be consistent with the color of their stable belt, i.e., maroon, navy blue, and yellow. I have attached an image of more recent A.V.C. stable belts as a comparison. The pattern is not the same but the colors appear to be similar.
