BLOWS, BROWN and PRITCHARD
« on: Monday 26 April 10 11:56 BST (UK) »
My wife’s great aunt was NELLIE MARY BROWN (nee BLOWS). She lived at Llys Eilian, High Street, Llanberis just before her marriage to WILLIAM BROWN on 5th August 1910 at the Parish Church, Llanberis.
By 1911 she was living at 38 Snowdon Street, Portmadoc with her husband, WILLIAM BROWN, and their son WILLIAM NORMAN BROWN (who was 4 months old at the time of the 1911 census). They also had a daughter (ALMA ANWELL BROWN) who was born in Ffestiniog on 4th November 1912 and another son who was born in 1919 in Ffestiniog.
ALMA ANWELL BROWN married WILLIAM ARTHUR PRITCHARD on the 1st May 1930 and on the marriage certificate ALMA is shown as living at the Prince Llewellyn Hotel, Beddgelert and her father (WILLIAM BROWN) is recorded as a Licensed Victualler (so may have been running the Prince Llewellyn Hotel at the time).
ALMA ANWELL PRITCHARD (nee BROWN) may have lived in Criccieth at some time in the 1950s or 1960s.
We understand that ALMA ANWELL PRITCHARD had two sons.
Does anyone know anything more about what happened to NELLIE MARY BROWN (nee BLOWS), ALMA ANWELL PRITCHARD (nee BROWN) and their descendants?

Suz,
I already know quite a lot about Nellie Mary Blows (as follows) and I am just trying to fill in the gaps.
Nellie was born on 28th February 1885 in Greenwich, London and she was baptised on 18th March 1885 (also in Greenwich). She was the daughter of William Blows and Ellen Mary Blows (nee Wheelan).  In 1891 she was living with her family at Orford Barracks, Warrington: her father was a Colour Sergeant in the British Army and spent time in India but was in Warrington at the time of that census.
Nellie’s mother died in 1900 and her father re-married almost immediately but did not take his children with him. In 1901 Nellie was living as a domestic servant with the Walker family at 97 Arundel Avenue, Toxteth, Liverpool.
Nellie married William Brown in Llanberis, Caernarfon on 5th August 1910 and was living at Llys Eilian, High Street, Llanberis just before the wedding.
In 1911 Nellie was living with her husband (William Brown) and son (William Norman Brown) at 38 Snowdon Street, Portmadoc.
In 1930 I think that Nellie may have been working at or running the Prince Llewellyn Hotel in Beddgelert (because that was the address of her daughter Alma on her wedding certificate and William Brown was recorded as a Licensed Victualler) but that is pure guesswork at present.
I have tried to trace when and where Nellie died and the most likely record is that of a person who died in 1961 in Dartford, Kent: I have yet to obtain the death certificate to verify this.
If you or anyone else can provide information to fill in any of the gaps that would be great.
Brian
