James Murphy, French polisher
« on: Monday 26 April 10 12:15 BST (UK) »
In 1851 at 11 Georges Walk, Douglas, Isle of Man lived:

- James Murphy, head, 53, French Polisher, born in Ireland
- Elizabeth Murphy, wife, 38, French Polisher, born in Ireland
- Chamberlain Murphy, son, 16, born in England
- Henrietta Murphy, 13, dau, Scholar, born in England
- James Murphy, son, 10, born in England
- Elizabeth Murphy, 6, dau, Scholar, born in Douglas, Isle of Man

It seems the family moved from Liverpool to the Isle of Man between 1841 and 1845. Chamberlain married a lady in Sligo, Ireland, had some children there, and moved back to Liverpool. Henrietta moved back to Liverpoool and married there in 1856.

But I don't know what became of their parents James and Elizabeth. Did they remain on the island? Did they continue to be French polishers?

Any information much appreciated,
Thanks - Simon
