I went in person, thinking they could at least just point it out on a map. But i was told it was a £50 fee !!!

A tenner i was begrudgingly willing to pay but not £50.

£50.00 seems quite a lot of money. Was this charge just to show you where the grave is, or for them to search their records?

Do you mind if I ask what year the person was buried?

The last time i contacted them was for someone who died 1902, I was told that the two municipal cemeteries were not open at that time. I was told it would be a £25.00 fee for them to search the records, or I could search myself at Nottm archives tell them the details and they would have told me where the grave was.

I had already been to the archives and i had the grave reference.
It was an old grave ( about 1900) i was looking for and it was for the General Cemetery in Nottingham  - you have to go to the Bulwell Cemetery for these enquiries.
I think it was for them to find and mark the grave out for you (i think)

But as i came armed with the grave numbers and all i thought she might be able to just show me on a map the general area and then i could trawl through them myself .... but no , that wasn't happening, that would be too easy !!!!

£50.00 seems very steep when you have the grave reference number.  :o

It sounds like they are not as helpful as they use to be.

I have a few rellies there.  Wonder whether Nottm FHS has an indexed list/layout.  If not we perhaps need to muster a working party for a few Sunday morning jaunts, armed with printouts from Google Earth.
