Can't easily see the family on Maxwell Ancestry's transcript, but this looks to be them from another of the transcripts from 1861:

John Morrison 30, farm lab. b Ireland
Mary Morrison 23 b. Ireland
Elisabeth Morrison 4
William Morrison 2

Address: Law End, Prestonkirk, East Lothian

Still an Irish birth showing for John in 1871:

John Morrison 41, lab. b. Ireland
Mary Morrison 32 b. Ireland
Elizabeth Morrison 13
William Morrison 11
Robert Morrison 8
Margburn Morrison 6
John Morrison 4
George Morrison 2

Address: Cottage, Prestonkirk

In order to get some clues on John and wife Mary's Irish roots, you could have a look at the birth cert of daughter Elizabeth from 1855. The first year of official registration in Scotland and the BMDs ran over two pages of the register. For births, should include date and place of parents' marriage and also ages and where parents were from. Really lucky to have an 1855 cert for parents with Irish origins  :)

To Anne,

My great aunt left tyrone n.ireland in the mid 1800's, and her name was mary connolly, along with her sister Alice connolly, both in their teens, the only information we have is that one  married a man with the surname morrison, and the other a man with the surname guthridge. There was very little contact over the years, and we are now trying to piece together information about their lives. It seems as though we are both talking about the same mary connolly, could you get in touch to discuss further!
