Have e-mailed a friend in Llangernyw ( a bit late to phone) who's lived there all his life. My wife seems to think she's heard the name Cefn Coch mentioned.

I'll let you know as soon as I get a reply.

I've found Cefn Coch on the original OS map (c1870) and on the Cassini (1921 - 1924) map. I don't have a modern map of that area. I'm not good with map coordinates, but I think it's 86 69, if that makes sense ???

If you go to Google Maps and enter Llangernyw, follow the A548 Northwards until you see "Pentre Isaf". To the left of this you'll see minor roads forming a triangle. Zoom in on this area until you see "D.O.Roberts", then switch to satellite view. Zoom in again and you'll see buildings on three sides of a junction. One of these (I don't know which) is Cefn Coch.

Hi, I am also interested in this post as John William Shields is my great great grandfather and Ellen Shields (nee Donaldson) great great grandmother. My great grandfather was William Walter Shields. I have other information regarding the family (dates etc) if they are of any use I will dig them out.
