South African Naturalization information
« on: Monday 03 May 10 21:15 BST (UK) »
A relation of mine went to live in South Africa and I was wondering whether I could find information about his Naturalization? His name was Arthur Hector Banbury born Leicestershire UK in 1906. He was married in Leicestershire UK in 1935. I don`t know whether he served in WW2 either.

Unfortunately I don`t know exactly when he emigrated but I assume sometime between when he married and 1947 as I`ve found his daughter and wife on a passenger list leaving Southampton UK in 1947. I assume he may have already been in South Africa for them to travel on their own.

I`ve found all three of them on another passenger list dated October 1954 this time leaving Plymouth UK in 1954 bound again for South Africa.

I believe the intended destination to be Durban on both occasions but this is only family hear say.

Would be great to hear from anyone who could help with information or suggestions on further research.

Many thanks in advance Steve

I know this does not answer your question but just in case you don't have this.

They must have been on a month long visit as they are on the incoming passenger list for September 1954 on the Arundel Castle.

Hi Tressle,

Thank you very much for your interest and reply, no I hadn`t got that piece of information.

Did the family possibly come back to attend Arthur`s sisters funeral? On her headstone it states she fell asleep October 27th 1954. Intriguingly, they where on board the Durban Castle returning back to South Africa on 28th October 1954.

Thanks again Steve :)
