Hi All Just joined.  Looking for info on any Taylors from Rathkeale.  My grandfather was Anslem born 1883 . Certificate states that he's from Newbridge, a crossorads between Rathkeale and Askeaton. His Father was Richard mother was a Moran.  He had two brothers one who died in teh Boer War and one who immigrated to Austraila. Thanks Mark

dont know what research you have already done, but to start your searches see the topic - 2 Minute Introduction to Irish Records

The closest match for a birth that I see on the civil index for Anslem is :

 Name: William Anselem Taylor
 Registration District: Glin
 Event Type: Birth
Quarter and Year: Oct - Dec 1884
 Volume : 5 / Page : 229

The town of Rathkeale is in the registration district also called Rathkeale, but the district of Glin as mentioned on the record above is adjacent.

Thanks Shane   Have noted that there were some Taylor's in Glin. On my grandfathers birth certificate, copy obtained by a cousin, it noted that my grandfather's town is Newbridge more of a four corners than anything else. I do find the geographical names from that period confusing when trying to figure parishes.  I found that there were 2 Anslem Taylor's in Shanagolden after my grandfather ad left, so perhaps cousins?

strange - I though with his distinctive first name the correct registration details would stand out, but the familysearch civil index has been giving difficulty since recent update.

If you have Anslem's mother's first name I can try to search for his parent's marriage if you like...

Since that's a death cert, I would not depend of the date/year of birth being 100% correct... people often got their ages incorrect on records. Some of my own ancestors were nearly 10 years out in their ages on a census.

I found a slightly later birth that matches the full name :

 Name: Anselm Francis Taylor
 Registration District: Glin
 Event Type: BIRTHS
Registration Quarter and Year: Apr - Jun 1887
 Volume Number: 5 /  Page Number: 234

If you have marriage data on his father it may show a diffrent family group.
