« on: Friday 07 May 10 05:33 BST (UK) »
Greetings,
I am hoping that someone could please search the Stoke by Clare parish records for: 1) children of John Meers and Sarah Pledger (married at SbC 19 Nov 1802); and surname of Frances Amelia _ whom married James Meers possibly at SbC ~1820.
cheers,
ian

Hi Suffolk Sue: After checking my records, your suggestion of the 1807 Ashen Essex marriage of James Mears (of Stoke) and Frances Twitchett (of Ashen) is incorrect.

My James Meers married Frances Amelia _? at unknown location (possibly Stoke by Clare) ~1820.  Their first child, Anna Maria, was baptised at SbC in 1820.

Will continue to search for Frances's surname and date of marriage to James Meers.
cheers
ian

I couldn't find a suitable marriage on the Suffolk Marriage Index 1813=1837. :'(

Seax is where you can find several of the early Essex parish registers online.

I don't know if you are still looking for this.

Taken from Stoke by Clare PRs.

14 Jun 1803 James MEERS  s/o John and Sarah late PLEDGER

I don't know if John had been a naughty boy but there is also this.

19 June 1803 John MEERS son of John and Eliza CORNELL - Illegitimate[/font]

I'm afraid that's all.

Rick :)

Hi Ian - did you ever find Frances' surname?  Am researching the same family.  You may already have this by now but I have the following children of the marriage:
Anna Maria 1820
Amelia 1821
Daniel 1822
David 1825 (my ancestor)
Jesse 1828

I think Frances must have died before 1841 as I haven't found her on the census with the rest of the family.

Best wishes

Julia

Frances Mears was buried in Stoke by Clare 15th June, 1831 aged 42yrs, nothing about a middle name.

and another Frances buried 17th November, 1860 aged 72yrs.

The second one looks like she was formerly Frances Ives married to John Meers in S by C in 1811.
