Perhaps your memory is better than mine but Clavin's (also?) were butchers in Columcillle St. (aka William St.) as were Killeavy's. There is a Chinese restaurant at the latter site and the former  is owned, oddly enough, by Clearys and is a clothes shop/shoe shop.  There was a Cleary butchers in High Street and Tom Treacy's (RIP). A friend and 'townie'confirmed this to me but memories are misleading.  I will check in 'Paddy Cloonans' next time I am in thereClavin man from Columcille Street is still alive.
Since you and I were around in the 60's we know each other I'd say!

You're so right.  Would I have been thinking of Kearney's butcher shop in Bridge St opposite what was P & H Egan,  now,  The Bridge House.  ?    Clavins was close to Cloonans ok.  The main thing is that it confirms the information for the enquirer.
