Game Keeper Occupation

I'm having trouble reading what it says at the end of the occupation of John Brummitt of Mansfield. I can see "Game Keeper (Mansfd. Apolister??)". It's probably something really simple but for the life of me I can't make it out.

The reference (1861 census) is RG9/2428, Folio 56, Page 51.

This is a difficult one 

The first word is as you say Mansfd (ie Mansfield)

But the second one(Apotista?) makes no sense to me at all?

Presumably other census records or kids birth certs don't say the same?

Thanks for your replies Carol and Mike. In all other records John is just recorded as "Game Keeper". That made me think that Mansfield A...... might have been his employer or where he worked.

I'm afraid I can't see "Extra Parochial" in it...though it could be something like that. I'm quite sure the first word is Mansfd. (abbreviation of Mansfield), as that is where John and family were living in that census.

I just had a thought, saying the word over and over out loud...making the family give me funny looks. 

Could it be an attempt to spell "Upholster" - ie Mansfield Upholstery?? I don't know what a game keeper might have to do with upholstery though...just a thought.

I had a look at the census district description. Unfortunately for 1861 they seem to just give the boundaries. If you can find the location in a later census it should tell you the name of the places, farms and estates actually in the district.

I thought it may be an abbreviation for manservant, "gamekeeper/manservant" I know sometimes that is abbreviated as M.S.  Although I failed to work out the last word, initially I thought apothecary - but multi tasking a bit to far.

I think it's a Latin word that not many of us know 

Maybe meaning that he worked for the Mansfield district or council?

Perhaps Stanmapstone would know?

I have looked in my mini latin dictionary & can't find anything suitable, however I think Carol is probably right.

I think the last letter may be N. Ken's suggestion of the area description in later censuses is definitely worth pursuing for farm names.

A 'policy' used to be the boundary of a building or holding; perhaps apol.... means outside the boundary - so he worked outside the boundary of Mansfield?
