Miners Convalescent Hospital

I am trying to find the name / photo of the Miners Convalescent Home in Weston Super Mare,
present in the 50's / 60's and probably before.
My Father and Grandfather both stayed there to recuperate, sent from the Cannock Chase No5 Pit
Hednesford (Locally known as 'Fives')
Any help much appreciated.

Might be worthwhile getting in touch with NUM HQ in Barnsley as these establishments were usually run by the Trade Union, it might also be useful to get in touch with the local newspaper at Weston and Somerset archives.

I never knew there were miners convalescent homes. I was in a mine the other day at a museum in Durham and got to experience what it was like for my ancestors in the mines.

There were a number of Miner's Convalescent homes, including the one at Bispham, Blackpool.

This site mentions Robert Summerside Williamson who seems to have been involved in the set up of the home, but it doesn't give the name:

Just found references on the Somerset RO site

http://www1.somerset.gov.uk/archives/

which say
Plan of conversion of Allendale, 65 Beach Road, to convalescent home.
For The Cannock Chase and Pelsall Coalfield Miners' Society; (E T Gillmore) [4953] Box 28.
1924

plus other records in 1929 and 1931

so sounds as if it was called Allendale.
