My father "Richard Philip George Parry" was born in 1938 in Portsmouth allegedly. His Father was George & his Mother was Daisy, Formerly Daisy Moore.  George and Daisy Parry lived in Keighley in 1941. I'm afraid thats all the information I have on any of that.

I see from another thread of yours that your father is deceased.  I'll post that link here so that others have the full picture:

Thankyou so much Anna, I'm just tryin to make some sort of picture here and figure out what sort of rogue my father was because I have had nothing for the first 30 years of my life on dads side of the family, its like running into a brick wall to find information about the old mans side. Any kid would be curious about his parents and why they never mentioned family.

Kind Regards
Jamie

Happy to help, Jamie - I can well understand the curiosity.

Here's a likely marriage for Richard's parents, also from FreeBMD:

Marriage, Mar qtr 1938

George R. PARRY
Daisy MOORE

Portsmouth 2b 952

Ayr: Barnes, Wylie
Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)

I'm not sure what this means, Birth, Jun qtr 1938

Richard G. P. PARRY, mother's maiden name MOORE

Portsmouth 2b 737. I was always aware that my father was born on the 11th of May 1938. does this mean he was concealing his true birthdate as well?

Hi

the civil registration works in quarters e.g. January, February and March events registered in the March quarter, April, May and June registered in June quarter. You have up to 6 weeks to register the birth of a child.

If you want to try and prove this Derbyshire family connects to your own Portsmouth Hampshire Parry family then the first thing you need to do is obtain a copy of the marriage certificate of George R Parry and Daisy. You can find the index details needed to obtain a copy of the certificate from this website - the marriage took place in 1938 (details already given you from another poster)

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

You can then order a copy of the certificate which will give George's age and his father's name and occupation from the General Registry Office.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

From your earlier post you already know George was killed in the Second World War in 1943

Name: PARRY, GEORGE
Initials: G
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Company Quartermaster Serjeant
Regiment/Service: Royal Army Service Corps
Age: 27
Date of Death: 06/02/1943
Service No: T/2570846
Additional information: Son of George and Letty Parry; husband of Daisy Parry, of Keighley, Yorkshire.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: C. A. 7.
Cemetery: KHAYAT BEACH WAR CEMETERY

His parents marriage may therefore be

Marriages Jun 1915
Hepworth  Lettice  Parry  Chesterfield  7b 1804
Parry  George  Hepworth  Chesterfield  7b 1804

Chesterfield is a Derbyshire registration district

There is one child, a daughter whose birth is showing on FreeBMD in Chesterfield registration district in 1919

This maybe her brother's birth registration wrongly indexed on the GRO index as Harry not Parry

Births Jun 1916   Harry  George R  Hepworth  Chesterfield  7b 1375

The Edward Richard Parry who died in 1918 maybe this child on the 1901 census

1901 census RG13 3143 folio 125
Newthorpe Greasby Nottinghamshire
George Parry 40 Head Married Coalminer Wellow Notts
Ellen J Parry 40 Wife Married Wallers Hall Hants (Chippenham Cambridgeshire on the 1891 census)
Joseph Parry 18 Son Awsworth Notts
Sarah Parry 15 Daughter Awsworth Notts
George Parry 7 Son Greasely Notts
Edward R Parry 4 Son  Greasley Notts
Ellen J Parry 1 Daughter Greasley Notts

The son George's birth registration (from his birth) would be in Basford registration district and is either plain George registered in 1894 or George Watkin Parry registered in 1895. More likely judging by his age on the 1901 census the former.

Births Sep 1894 PARRY  George    Basford  7b 145

Births Mar 1897  Parry  Edward Richard    Basford  7b 160

waoh, that was a lot of information. I recall reading when I was with my ex and her mother about "George and Letty Parry" so I'm thinking maybe this is correct information, however it was some time ago but those two names do sound right from what I remember. Doom on me for not insisting on copies before we split up and stopped talking to each other. How would I go about trying to find photographs of the soldiers?
