Hi Julie,

Landlord at the Usk & Raiway at the time of Rees' death was Charles Martin, who was there from around 1880 until his death in 1893.  A former butcher he came from Merthyr Tydfil.

I'll see what else I can dig out of my files.

Hi Julie,

Firstly I spend a lot of time in and around Sennybridge, so I know "The Usk" quite well.
I have researched other families for people and have still got my notes.
My other source of information is Gareth Jones, local historian and author of two books on Sennybridge and the surrounding area, he is a mine of information and usually fills in the gaps in my own research.

The informant John James Madden married Jemima Martin daughter of Landlord of the Usk and Railway in 1891.
Jemima was born in Bedwellty where your Rees was married.
I wonder if there was a connection between the two families and that is why Rees was in Sennybridge when he died.
