Rachel Haycock 1841 & 1851 census
« on: Sunday 16 May 10 07:57 BST (UK) »
i am looking for her in the 1841 and 51 Egland Census, i have her in the 61 and 71 where she has married William Goodeve Slater, according to the census's she was born in Bermondsey, Surrey, and born 1830/31.  the Marriage Record i have found of Rachel and William states Rachels father as Robert Haycock and that he is a sailmaker, i was wondering if anybody can find her in the census's

Thanks

Could you give details of 1861/71 census

according to FreeBMD the marriage didn't take place until 1868?

so she would be single in 1861??

yeah i thought that too but everything links up correctly even to their Daughter Martha Slater's (my GG grandmother) marriage cert to Benjamin baker where the fathers profession is Gas Fitter the marriage is 6 oct 1872

1861  :  RG9 75 ? pg 70
1871  :  RG10 163 71 73

i don't know unless there was another marriage in there somewhere.

is themarriage cert you have, the 1868 one that Suzard found? If so, what was the address of the bride and groom, ages, occupation etc. Do they all indicate that it is the right marriage for them, even if they had waited a few years?

Have you got Martha's (or a siblings) birth cert to confirm that Rachael was nee Haycock?
And that Wm has middle name Goodeve?

i dont have martha's birth cert but there is only 1 William Goodeve Slater, and the age and birthplace of MArtha on the census's add up, on Marthas marriage cert it says her father was a Gas fitter and his name was William Goodeve Slater

Probably did. It is not a modern thing for two people to live together as a married couple without actually being married.
