Hi Margaret i just paid a quick visit to the Scotland boards, and noticed your posting.I never found my Wallace ancestors either.I have been stuck in 1810 in Glasgow for, must be four years now. 1810 was when my G.G.Grandfather Richard Mc Cloy was born in E.K. Lanarkshire. His parents were Alexander Mc Cloy & Agnes or Ann Wallace I still don't know which name it was. Your Agnes is to young. but if you ever get get connected to the Mc Cloys I would drop me  a line ;)

Hello Celia,
Many thanks for the reply. It seems as if all Wallace families are hard to locate. I have not been able to get back any further than George . I think i may have located his parents as being William Wallace and Mary Ritchie with George being born 1791 in glasgow.
I have not been able to locate his death to verify this even with checking all the George Wallace deaths between 1859 and 1867 on Scotlands People. That was a expensive exercise.
Still like all the others I will keep searching.
Good luck with your search.
Regards
Margaret in New Zealand

Hello Margaret it's me again ;D
To save typing it all out have you got/found  the marriage for for George Wallace and Agnes?Have you got the birthdays for the children.Mary,Andrew,James and George, i found all five.I had a look in Lanark for the death  but i didn't find George or Agnes in the whole of Scotland. Or Great Britain,Maybe you could try for the death of Agnes see if you have better luck. There are A lot of deaths for Georges but most are young ones so only give parents names.I have done research in Lanark so if no one comes up with a census for you.I will see if i can remember my search places.

Hi Cilia,
Yes I have the Marriage for George & Agnes as well as all the births.
I even found a birth and death for another child William Wallace in Pittenweem in 1921. I have also searched for the death of Agnus between 1867 and 1895.with no luck.
I know george was alive when James married first time 1859 and deceased at the 2nd marriage in 1867. Agnes was still alive then but deceased when James wife died in 1895.
That is why i would love someone to check the census of glasgow for 1841 or 1851 to eliminate where they may have been.
Thanks for looking.
regards
margaret.

Margaret, The only George Wallace in Glasgow 1851 index within the age of 45-70 is age 60 and with wife Isabella and one age 47, looks like a widower.
Sorry

Hi Liz,
Many many thanks for doing the look up. George is the right age at 60 but definitely with the wrong wife or is it ? I guess that will always be my question and where to look for them now.
regards
Margaret.
