It looks to be the same family that was censused twice in 1870 [though somehow William was missed on the record I found].  They have the same neighbors – John Saratz, George Griffith, etc.

My feeling is that Adam and Karolina didn't move to U.S. and that Adam probably only made visits playing for a certain period and then returning to Germany as was the custom. If things had gone according to plan my great-grandfather would have returned home in the autumn after his arrival in the U.S. (as it was he got other work to suppoirt himself, married and had 2 children before going back to Germany 8 years later).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

What was the name of Adam’s orchestra?  It might be possible to find some reference to their travels in the newspapers.

Very few German records are online. I.G.I. does have many records for some church in Hefersweiler area and there's also the website whose link has already been posted.
