Thanks for your help Sarah.

All I know is that he lived at Grasslot - ellenborough and that his daughter married my great grandfather  William Coey. William was a master mariner and the family lived in Bangor, Co. Down - Northern Ireland. William may have been involved in importing coal from Maryport to Bangor. I really do not have much to go on.

Thanks again

Roger

You didn't say how old Jane was when she got married, but could this be them on the 1871 census?

Thanks Ange,

Jane Thompson was 21 years old when she got married on the 20th May 1877. The 'Jane' on the 1971 census was 14 so there could be a connection with the family ties I am looking for. You are real treasure.

Thanks again

Roger ;)

Hello Dickens x
I'm not sure if this is related but i may have a connection the Coey you enquire about x
My Coeys predominately came from Ballydrain area of Co.Down and where known for being in the coal industry (I remember them doing home delivery's if coal when I was a wee girl) x
