I had some of these people in my file but they are related only through Catherine, the oldest John's sister. Other researchers had followed them down to William (1871) but did not know who he married. I guess his wife was Mary Elizabeth Smart and that Charles was born in 1910, the last of seven by 1911.
I do have some info on the older generations so, if you have any specific queries, just ask.

Hi Paula, Your husband is a distant cousin of mine.
His direct ancestor is John Lawrie, b.1793 who married Margaret Anderson in 1814, Wemyss, and my direct ancestor is his brother Willie b.1796, who married Sophia Neish in 1818, Wemyss.
I've attached a wee pdf file of your husbands family down as far as the kids of Robert Lawrie & Isabella Sharp.

It's actually very easy indeed, because all the main records are in one place online: www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.

See https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=714261.0

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

As Forfarian says, it's easy to get Scottish records. Everything is in the same place online.
I use another genealogy site for the 1841-1901 Scottish censuses but all the birth, death & marriage certificates are on the ScotlandsPeople website.
