RIX Family NSW
« on: Tuesday 01 June 10 09:28 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am looking for information on the family of Robert Rix and Bridget Fahey in NSW.   Specifically I am trying to find a birth record for their daughter Fanny born in Mudgee between 1859-1863.

Robert Rix died 1901 aged 76 in Sydney, his parents were Robert and Elizabeth Rix, not sure where he was born.

Bridget Fahey died in 1891 aged 62 in Sydney, she is apparently from Ireland, came over during Irish Famine.

Robert and Bridget apparently had 12 children, and I have found most of these on the NSW BDM index.  I have not managed to find any birth record for Fanny born in Mudgee between 1859-1863.  Fanny married Frank Rolls in 1892, they moved to NZ.

Any information much appreciated.

Thanks
Jenny

Hi Jenny

There is a tree on Ancestry that matches somewhat.

Only difference is NSW BDM has an Angelina born to them 1863, the date on this tree for Fanny??

Hi Annie, thanks for your quick reply!

Is the Ancestry tree you are looking at called Fear Family Tree?  That is my tree, but I need to update it.

Angelina is one of the other children (there are 12 according to a family record, I think Fanny was born before her).  I have a copy of Fanny's marriage certificate that says she is 29 in 1892, she died in NZ in 1945 aged 86.  So I am estimating her birth date is between 1859-1863.

Thanks

My gr gr grandmother was Martha (Honey ) Sawyer who married James Rix in Ballarat, Victoria about 1881 they had about 12 children between them. Martha died in 1882 and is buried in Ballarat with her first husband William Sawyer. Unfortunately I don't have anything on James Rix but just thought you might like to know in case he turns up in your tree     Val

There are only 7 children's births registered to Robert and Bridget on the NSW BDM's.
Rosetta and Robert H 1860. Rosetta dies the same year. Both of these birth reg are entered twice.
Joseph 1862, Angelina 1863, Annie E 1866, Martha 1867 and Alfred Ernest 1874.
I haven't found a birth or death reg for Angelina. Do you know anymore about her? Is it possible she abandoned the name Angelina and called herself Fanny?
What are the names of the 12 children you mention in a family record or does it just say 12 children without naming them?
Sorry, no answers just a few thoughts.

Hi Sani, thanks that is interesting.

I don't have a James Rix on my tree but could be related, maybe a brother of Robert Rix.  Can I just ask you to check the dates you gave me - You say  Martha married James Rix in 1881 and died in 1882 - is that right???

Thanks
Jenny

Hi Crisane, thanks for your reply.

I have the names of 12 children listed on a family record (unknown origin so may not be accurate).  Names are (in this order on list)
Ernest
Fanny
Ellen
John
Robert
Rosetta
Joseph
Angelina
Annie
Martha
Alfred
Walter

I have found Robert Rix death cert in 1901 so might order that, hopefully will list names of children so can check them.  I am assuming there are 12 children because of this list, but maybe it is wrong, and then Fanny could be Angelina, or Annie maybe?

Robert's death cert should be a mine of info depending on the knowledge of the informant. :)Hopefully it will sort out the children. Let us know when you get it?
