England to Canada
« on: Monday 28 March 05 17:59 BST (UK) »
I am trying to get information with regard to a Great Aunt of mine. Her name was, I think, Mary Jane Crampton who emigrated to Canada around 1906? She emigrated from Blackpool, Lancashire but, was born in Halifax, West Riding, Yorkshire. I would be grateful for any assistance.

Davy Boy,

Do you know where she might have lived in Canada (which province)?  Was she married before or after arriving in Canada?

Regards,
Josephine

Josephine,
My aunt lived in Toronto, Ontario, stupidly I forgot to put that in.
I do not know if she was married before or after going to Canada.
Her maiden name could have been Smith!

Davy Boy:

The Toronto Public Library's downtown reference library has city directories:

http://www.tpl.toronto.on.ca/localhistory/directories1.html

There's a link to contact them.  Perhaps you could email and ask if they would look up your Great Aunt in the city directories beginning around 1906.  I don't know if they offer that type of service.

Regards,
Josephine
