Two deaths on one day, St Buryan
« on: Thursday 10 June 10 05:46 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Could anyone please suggest how I might find out about the death of a married couple (both elderly) that occurred on the same day in 1936 short of buying the death certificates?

They were residents of Parc-an-Cady, St Buryan and I am not sure if their deaths may have made the paper's or not, I just thought it must be fairly unusal that they both died on the one day.

Any ideas would be appreciated  :)

I think you have already covered the possibilites - hunt through local papers on the offchance, or buy the death certs.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

forgot to add, that as you have the date, you could ask the Cornish Studies Library in Redruth for a look-up if you can't get there yourself

http://www.chycor.co.uk/general/red-lib/page3.htm

The West Briton would be a good starting point.

Thanks Liz and Osprey.

I have the date but as I not from Cornwall I have no idea what newspapers would have existed in that part of the country in 1936.

Thanks Osprey I will ask, they can only say no! Thanks for the link.

Kind regards

I think they do it for a fee, so they won't say no. Having the details will cut down the search & therefore the cost. I'm not in Cornwall either. If you look up the Genuki site for the county needed, there's often details of local papers

I think my daughter was looking at these last night as they appear in her husband's tree.  She found them both on the new database of probate on Ancestry.  We too were wondering what the story behind their deaths was.

Hi Ellen,

The only thing is the probate information gives slightly differing places of death..perhaps coincidence that they died the same day..or maybe a broken heart  :(

Yes the places are different but one of the executors were the same, it could of been an accident and one died in the hospital? Have you tried looking in the west briton?
