Cracknell in LAXFIELD
« on: Thursday 10 June 10 13:38 BST (UK) »
Does someone have access to Laxfield baptisms.
I would like to determine if JAMES CRACKNELL b abt 1806 and HEPZIBAH CRACKNELL b abt 1809 are siblings, and if so, who are the parents?

Any help appreciated.

Hi Michael

I had a look at Laxfield PRs today at the records office but struggled to find the baptisms you're looking for.

I found Mark s/o Mark and Martha Cracknell (late Hart) bap Sept 4th 1803
and
Moyra d/o Charles and Elizabeth Cracknell (late Baldry) bap Feb 178th 1799 and received into the church August 13th 1805.

I made notes of these two and thought your James and Hepzibah would follow, as children of one of the above couples.

I checked the baptisms up to 1817 but could not find any more Cracknells baptised at Laxfield in that time.  Sorry.

Anne

Thanks for looking, Anne.  They say in census records that they were born in Laxfield, but that would be too easy, wouldn't it? :)

The father of "my" Hephzibah Cracknell who married James Pipe in 1827 is Charles Cracknell on her Marriage entry in the register. I have not found which Charles and I do not know of James. Charles was a tailor.  Any help?

Hi Lizbee,
Thanks for that - with the help of another researcher I have also arrived at that conclusion.  The mother appears to be an Elizabeth Baldry.  However we are stuck at that point until I can obtain some copies of the Laxfield PR's which have to be purchased on Fiche.

Are you a descendant of this line?

Michael, you need only buy the fiche that you need for your research, not a whole set (some sets are hewge)   ::)

Also worth popping back to Suffolk Family History Society every now and again to see how they are getting on with transcribing PRs and putting them on to CDs.

Have just checked, they haven't reached Laxfield yet  :-\

Pat ...

Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

Thanks Pat, I am attempting to figure out which ones I need, but I haven't yet found an index for the contents of each fiche.
