This link shows the civil parishes of Dublin city. If you click on a parish name, or on the map, you'll see all placenames in that parish; a summary of its records; a list of the adjoining parishes and the ten commonest surnames in the parish ... http://tinyurl.com/5usx6g

Hello All.

A high quality map of Dublin from 1798 is now on display on the free access MAPCO website. It is:

Modern Plan Of The City And Environs Of Dublin 1798
http://dublin1798.com

The map was published 1 June 1798 by William Wilson, Dame Street, Dublin, and sold by booksellers and printsellers in London & Dublin.

The map includes a search engine for streets and place names.

There are 2 levels of enlargement for each map section, being:

1) the image you get when you navigate using the thumbnail images at the top of each page, &

2) a highly enlarged view accessed by clicking the first level map image displayed (1).

Viewing the map works on a 'click to enlarge' principal, as do all other MAPCO maps. How to view the map is explained in more detail at the bottom of the main map page.

I hope that you find this map of interest. Enjoy!

MAPCO's next Dublin venture is a balloon view of the city from 1846. This is a huge print, with very high resolution scans. This view should be on display within the next month or so.

Kind regards,

David.
