Hi Goldie,

Hope you had a good flight home. Did you get to see and do everything you had intended?

I did in fact find christening details for James, 22nd May 1842 (Oakshaw East Associate Congregation, Paisley). I found this on the LDS Family Search site, along with six other’s from 1834 to 1847, all born in Paisley. (I have yet to find them on ScotlandsPeople.....odd!).  No sign of births prior to 1834 inc. your Michael C1827, who I assume was born in Loudoun/Darvel.

Alexander Cochran (1751) married a Mary Smith in Avondale/Strathaven. As to him being the right Alexander, I will need to have a bit of a dig! I’ll let you know.

Once I’ve got my third post in I’ll pm my email.

Alan.

Hi Goldie,

I came across the following while looking into the Darvel Cochran’s:

Pte James Alexander Cochrane 2973
Died  12th Oct. 1917
Husband of Janet Cochrane of Ladbrooks, Christchurch.
Native of Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland.

Any relation?
Cochran(e): Paisley, Darvel, Strathaven.

Hi Alan
Hooray! A new keyboard.
Do you want to send me another message? I tried to send you a PM today to send you my email, but it wouldn't recognise you as a member. Maybe you need another post. Or you could try and send me a PM.

I don't know much about Michael's son James - your ancestor. Obviously not one of the ones that emigrated off to 'the younited  States in Amaricha' as Michael writes in his log, about his daughter Janet and her husband Dugald Yuill in August 1867. Sorry, can't find any mention of James. I can send you photos of the diary though if you like.

Happy hunting! 8)

Hello TootsiePie
I am doing the family tree for a friend and she has three COCHRAN lines all from around Paiisley/Renfrewshire.
Any help that you could offer would be most apprecitaed.
I have attached a small chart with the lines that pertain to her.
