Annclare

Thanks for the info, I don't think it would be the right Ann either, as she would only have been about 11 when she got married and I can't imagine that happening.

I'll keep looking.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Nickie,

I'm new to the site and came across your link as I'm doing my only family research and we seem to be investigating the same people!

From what I've found using the internet:

Jeremiah Quirke and Ellen Callaghan were my great, great, great grandparents

Their daughter was Anne Quirke who married Michael Ferriter - my great, great grandparents (on the 1901 census living in Tralee with her father Jeremiah)

Their daughter Annie Ferriter married James Quirke (a possible first cousin  :-\ ) who were my great grandparents (on the 1911 census living in Tralee).

Their son James Quirke (1916) married Mary Garlinge - my grandparents.

It would be great if you could let me know if you've managed to unearth any more details since your last link.  I'm particularly looking for any details on my great grandfather James Quirke as I can't seem to find any information about him anywhere.

Thanks, Kathleen

Is it Anne Margaret Quirke born in 1890 that you are related to then?  From what I've found out so far, she was one of 15.  I haven't come across your James Quirke yet as I've been looking into the Ferriter family and their descendants from Anne's brother Jeremiah born in 1883.

What do you already know about them?

Hi,

Yes, I believe my great grandmother was born Anne Margaret Ferriter in Tralee on 17.06.1890

From www.irishgenealogy.ie I have also found that:

Anne Margaret Ferriter's mother, Anne Quirk(e) was born 08.10.1859.  She married Michael Ferriter in Tralee on 05.03.1878.

Anne Quirke's parents were Jeremiah Quirk(e) (born c. 1841) and Helen (Ellen) Callaghan (born c. 1843).

Jeremiah and Ellen were married on 19.10.1858 in Tralee and from their wedding record, I know that his father was John Quirk(e) and her father was James Callaghan.

Regarding Michael Ferriter, all I know is that from his wedding record, his own father was also called Michael Ferriter.

Can you add any more to this?

Thanks, Kathleen

If you make another post I can pm you with what I know so far.

With regard to Michael Ferriter I think I'm at the same place as you - not knowing a lot about him.  I've got two possible births but I'm at a loss at to which one is the right one.

Hi Nickie,

We were in touch many years ago as we were both chasing details regarding Michael Ferriter and Anne Quirke (my great, great grandparents).  I have just started to pick this thread up again and I was wondering if you managed to get any more information on them?

I would love to hear from you.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas,

K

Merry Christmas.

I haven't looked at this part of the family for years, probably the last time was when we got in touch in the first place!  As it's the holidays, I'll have another look to see what info I've got.

Regards

Dear Nickie and Kathleen
I am researching this family because of the Callaghan/O'Callaghan line.
I have pieced together quite a bit here:

And would love to email.

See the pages on Quirk and Ferriter:
http://humphrysfamilytree.com/OCallaghan/quirk.html
http://humphrysfamilytree.com/OCallaghan/ferriter.html
and their Callaghan ancestry:

My contacts are here.

Drop me an email.
