Charles Chappel - Binsted

Hi,

I am looking for help to find the baptism of Charles Chappel/Chapple/Chapel.

Charles married Jane Furze in 1828 in Binsted and I have found him in the 1841 census HO107/381/10 Folio 4 p.5 aged 35 Ag.lab born Binsted
1851             HO107/1679/337/p7 aged 48 Ag.lab born Binsted
1861             RG9/705/55/? aged 57 Ag.lab born Binsted.

He seems pretty sure he was born in Binsted and probably around 1802-4.

Can anybody help me find him please

Dear Sue - there are two possibilities for Charles:-
1808   10 Jan., Charles Chapple, son of William and Elizabeth, baptised at Froyle.
1804   2 Sep., Charles Chapel, son of William and Sarah, baptised at Kingsley.
I notice that:-
1828   16 Feb., Charles Chapple married Jane Furze at Binsted. Witnesses - George and Mary Chapple.
The only possible George that I have found is:-
1802   6 Feb., George Chappel, son of William and Elizabeth, baptised at Froyle.
Hence, I think that Charles was baptised at Froyle. Possibly the family moved to Binsted before he could remember? Yours Jane

Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for you reply.  I had seen the Froyle baptism but had discounted it because there is a burial for Charles in 1883 aged 74.  My Charles, I think, if I am following the right one, died in Alton workhouse in 1885.

I did not know about the Kingsley one - that's a possibility - I will check it out.
