Lily BAKER [nee CARROLL] / Welford Hospital, Warwick, QLD - 1920's

My family and I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has information concerning Lily Collingwood BAKER [nee CARROLL] b. 1893 Bathurst, NSW d. 1950, Burwood NSW. Lily was the daughter of Robert CARROLL and Jane Ellen WELFORD (both buried in Toowoomba). We know she married in Lismore in 1912 to James BAKER; however we believe the marriage did not last.

Also, her connection to Welford House/ Welford Hospital in Palmerin St, Warwick, Qld. Welford Hospital was set up in the 1920s during the time Lily was based in Warwick. She is listed as living in the area in several census? documents during the 1920s and mentioned as Matron Baker of Warwick in her fathers obituary (Toowoomba & Darling Downs Gazette 8th Nov 1926). The timing and the name of Welford Hospital convince us there is a connection with its setup. The local library archives and historical society have little to go onone listing in a book showing a photo of the house and a 3 paragraph basic history.

We would love to find out more about her. Any information would be very welcome.

Regards,
Jeff Carroll
