I greatly appreciate it.  This family has been a bit of a challenge.  As I mentioned, James didn't tell his family much about his parents and siblings.  Once I figure out who the siblings are, I will try to discover how to find John and Ann's parents.  That should lead to even more excitement.

Perhaps .....

1901 RG13; Piece: 3825; Folio: 163; Page: 20

William Lees b 1866 living 17 Joshua Lane Middleton Junction
daughter Patience b c 1890

1891  RG12; Piece: 3317; Folio 130; Page 22
Patience is with grandfather James b 1842 and some of his children including Ada 23 yrs
(nothing coming up for William  :-\)

later that year Ada marries Robert Turner and is at:
1901  RG13; Piece: 3822; Folio: 167; Page: 14

1881 RG11; Piece: 4086; Folio: 105; Page: 29
James and family

just wondering though why Ann would leave to some nephews and nieces and not others  :-\

will continue - all this is speculative

as I said all speculation because then it become difficult re James b 1842 Chadderton

(Chadderton borders Middleton Junction and all those to date are in right place- Midd Junction area)

James b 1842 Chadderton isn't really obvious but;
1851  HO107; Piece: 2242; Folio: 76; Page: 42
Lane End Chadderton - St Matthews Parish which is next parish to St Gabriel's Middleton Junction

James b 1842 Royton
parents  James and Mirian (Miriam?) -in 1881 Ada and William have a sister Miriam)
amongst other children is Ann born 1837  :(

A bit pear shaped now- St Matthews has a marriage for Ann Lees to Eli Scholes  :-\

but the others are very optimistic
There are such a lot of names here though with siblings etc and you have picked a whole lot of very local surnames  ;)

Ann may have been buried by the Cooperative funeral directors perhaps rather than it being paid for by the society.
I don't suppose you have any details re who informed re the death etc?

I can try to get to the library Friday perhaps to look at the Electoral Rolls but am not sure how informative they would be.

:DYou thought that was it?  So did I, but what an interesting thread has ensued and such a learning curve.  I was about to offer some help but how embarrasing if I had.  After 20 years I see I'm still a novice. ::)

Oh please do help.
I am a bit  ::) (understatement) bothered about it but the William/Ada do seem so appealing.

If Ann was born c 1842 then nephews and nieces could be born anytime between mid 1850s and 1870s I suppose.

I am very aware that 1901 census is 25 years earlier than the will so there is a wide range of years for anything to happen!

Then I also think- what if Ann was Mrs Lees on her marriage  :o

Really wish I could but the jump from so little info to a ton of info lost me and each time I re-read it I lose some more.

At first it seemed obvous:  The Q? being whi and why did X leave a legacy to g-g-granma?

In the second batch of info it seemed plain that Ann Lees made her will out to the g-g g/ma as her niece on her hubands side then to her own family... g-g-gma's cousins.  but now I've lost who grandma is!!!   :'(

And I'm not sure of the Q? either?
