« on: Wednesday 23 June 10 05:02 BST (UK) »
Hi  everyone,
 Many thanks for the info on Joseph Lewis. I have two more families that I need some help with. Robert Mather born 1781 married to Jessie Craig. Have no  other info on them. Their children were James 1836 Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland _ Adam _  Marion_ Robert & William. I have no birth dates for Jessie, Adam, Marion, Robert or William.
 Also, I have George Lewis abt. 1855 Brentford married to Sarah. He was the son of Cyrus Lewis . I can't find the maiden name of his spouse. His children were George 1882 _ Irene 1899_ Jannette 1879 _ Louisa 1884 _ Nellie May _ 1880_ Stanley George1880_ Willie 1885.
 Regards Marion

Hi Jonquill,
 Many thanks for your help on Beatrice Lewis. I have found the family on the 1911 census. I have  George Lewis born abt 1855 in Brentford. Son of Cyrus Lamas Lewis . I have him married to a Sarah, but no info on her. I have tried to find the marriage, but have had no luck.
 Kind regards Marion

Hiya Marion...just checked from 1852 to 1857 for George Lewis registered Brentford....only one...
George Lewis b Sep qtr 1853    Brentford 3a 65 ....
allan :)
added.....was he George Lewis......was he officially George Edward ?....possible marriage in Brentford in 1873 June qtr to Sarah Ann Hammerton ?....doesn`t look likely because of the EDWARD middle name, but he would be just coming 20 if it is the 1853 birth...check it out and see what you think......allan ???

Have you been able to find George and Sarah in 1911 - or have they died by then?
That should tell you how many years they have been married.

Or you'd think that a Sarah from Pampisford would be easy to find - seems like a pretty small place - but apparently not  :D

Hi Jonquill,
 We have been unable to find George Lewis abt 1855 on the 1911 census. He died in 1920. His father , Cyrus Lamas Lewis was married to Clara Currier . Cyrus    & Clara were married in 1852. She died soon after the birth of their daughter Clara in 1856. I also found Cyrus  married to Mary Ann Childs in 1877. Their children were Joseph John Lewis 1863, Annie Lewis 1867, John Lewis 1869, Ada Emma Lewis 1871, Clara 1873, Maud Sarah Harriet Lewis 1875, William Cyrus, 1877, Frank Lewis 1880, Edith Mary 1881, Emily Lewis 1882, Beatrice Lewis1886. Edith Mary Lewis was my grandmother. Most of the children seem to be born out of wedlock. On the 1901 census George's birth would have been abt 1858. So I'm not sure who his mother was. My husband & I have both tried to find his marriage, with no luck.
Regards Marion

Hi Marion,
The 1861 census has George born c 1858;

1861 Census
High Street,
Old Brentford, Ealing, Middlesex
RG9/779/9/13

Cyrus LEWIS, 32, Head, Mar, Hair Dresser, born Monmouth
Mary Ann, 23, Wife, Mar, Richmond, Surrey
GEORGE, 2, Son, born Brentford, Middlesex

1st Marriage;
Cyrus Lammas LEWIS, December 1852, Brentford, 3a 64
On same page Clara CURRIE

There are deaths for a Clara Lewis, June and March 1856, Brentford
+ a Birth of a Clara Lewis June 1855, Brentford

Another possible, George William LEWIS, Dec 1857, Brentford, 3a 38
Just because they were living in Brentford it does not mean his Birth was Reg there, are Mary Ann (if she was his Mother) could have gone home to her Parents to have him.

Trish :)
