I'm sorry I didn't make it very clear.

He was in Southburn between 1900 and 1911 and thereafter in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

I would imagine he was just following work. 1901 has him as  a Gardener domestic, I think so there are no clues there.
He doesn't appear to be living on an estate where he may be working and 1911 he has gone back to his home area.

Just wonder if you were aware that your g g grandfather was musical?

According to the The Leeds Mercury on  Thursday, October 6, 1892, from Gale Databases,

On Wednesday, October 5th, 1892 at Oakworth, Wesleyan Chapel, Moses Hartley was in action at a wedding.

"The wedding service was fully choral, special hymns being rendered by the chapel choir under the leadership of Moses Hartley, while Mr. Seth Burwin gave several organ voluntaries."

In the election of 1872, a Moses Hartley of Pellon Lane, Halifax is mentioned as being a supporter of the Liberal Party candidate.

I had no idea!

I just knew he was a domestic gardener, husband and father.

Not sure if this is my Moses.  Not aware that he lived in Halifax.

He was born in Oakworth where he lived with his parents and siblings and later in Southburn and Oakworth with his wife and children.

I'll check it out though, thanks :)

It was the Oakworth Wesleyan Chapel section that caught my eye to start with, as opposed to the Halifax article.

Thanks Tom :)

There may be something in it.  Where can I access this information?  Sounds interesting.

I was sent this picture a couple of days ago.

On the back it says Moses Hartley of Oakworth.

The lady who sent it to me said she doesn't know anything about it other than that it was amongst some pictures belonging to a relative.
