Offer: History of the Parishes of Pinxton & South Normanton
« on: Monday 12 July 10 19:55 BST (UK) »
I have a book titled DAY BY DAY events in the History of the Parishes of Pinxton & South Normanton. It details events and snippets of information about the people of the villages. It details various events including property sales, some eventful deaths, interesting events surrounding the people such as court cases, holiday trips, cricket matches, eventful weather etc. It covers diverse dates from the last 5 centuries. If anyone had any ancestors in these 2 villages it might be worth seeing if they are mentioned.  Provide some details and dates and I will see if they are mentioned.  Regards Trevor

Trevor, I have surname interests in the PAGE, PERKINS, TOMLINSON families who were living in the South Normanton area.

HENSTOCK, WARD, DRAYCOTT are other surnames that lived in Tibshelf, Pinxton areas.

Please could you check whether any of these surnames are mentioned in the book.

Thank You Teresa

1st December 1895, John TOMLINSON preached a sermon at the Bethel Chapel, South Normanton in memory of James FRYER who was killed at the Blackwell colliery explosion.
24 December 1949, John TOMLINSON J.P. of Highland Hurst, Sth NORMANTON, died aged 88yrs. He was a member of a well known family, clerk to the ParishCouncil and School managers. He was also closely associated with Bethel Chapel.

Thank you Trevor, The Tomlinson family details look very promising. The Tomlinson's were devout chapel attendees and also were instrumental in this chapel being built. Thank you very much for looking this information up in your book.

Hi Trevor,
I am very interested in the Butcher family of Pinxton. George Butcher was a keen cricketer. Do you know if this book is available to buy anywhere?
