Hi im looking for information on martha hetherington and oliver stringer who lived in knocktopher co kilkenny around 1860's to the 1890's their children were elizabeth, george, john james, lucy, caroline and martha. Any information would be very much appreciated.

Dont know what sort of details you already have, but there are birth details for several of the children in the extracted records collection on familysearch - see :  Extracted Births, 1864-1881

Included are :
 George - 21 Nov 1864
 James William - 1 Mar 1867
 Caroline - 18 May 1869
 Martha Isabella - 1 Nov 1870

All in the Knocktopher area. A civil cert would give a more detailed address. For births before full civil registration started (1864) you will need to check parish records.

There also a birth of a John to an Oliver Stringer and Martha Harrington - which could be a typo

The marriage of Oliver and Martha is included in the extracted marriage records :

 Groom : Oliver Stringer    age  21
 Bride : Martha Hetherington  age 22
 Marriage Date: 28 Sep 1855
 Marriage Place: Errigal Trough, Mon  (Monaghan?)
 Groom's Father's Name: James Stringer
 Bride's Father's Name: John Hetherington

A civil marriage cert would give you more details, such as residence of bride & groom at the time of marriage, and occupations of Oliver, James and John

Hi just wondering would anyone know  where oliver stringer would have worked as a steward in the area of knocktopher? How would i find out about who the local landlords were? Is there a chance he could have worked in mount juliet? Dont know how to go about lookin for this information.

Hello.  I think we are searching for the same family.  This is my husband's family (Derrick Stringer).  I have passed on to him what you have found.  Do you know if there are any live relatives.  His brother John Les Stringer is goind to Ireland at the begining of September 2011.  I have found out where John's Stringer's family are buried, Martha and Oliver Stringer are also buried there.

Hi jackie, do you know what connection your husband has with oliver and martha?  I havent found any stringers living at all yet im afraid. I got alot of my information from a women researching the same family line. I think her name on roots is mother hen.

Derrick and John Leslie are decended from Robert Henry Stringer born 1918 who was John Stringer's son.   I think  Martha Hetherington and Oliver Stringer were John Stringer's parents.
