Annie HONAN

Wishing for info on a lady from victoria. On her death cert spelling a little hard to understand So I will write what I see and hopefully makes sense

Annie Honan? born circa 1843 at Goedburn? Victoria   Married An Englishman Oliver Dawson who according to family legend followed the gold trial. Married at 18 at Heathcote Victoria circa 1861. They had one son William Oliver Dawson born circa 1866. They emigrated to the nz goldfields Now Honan is a name I have not heard of but that is how it is spelt on her Daughters marriage  cert.Honan to me sounds like a name from somewhere in Europe. My world History is a little hazy but I am pretty sure that people from europe came over to the Aussie goldfieds so wonder if her family originated from there?  Thanks Hereford

Sorry I am having trouble locating marrige cert but have contacted a births and deaths dept in Aussie to see if there is a record of this   Nothing has come back so far for a marrige record Thanks for your reply

There is no marriage for an Oliver DAWSON in Victoria between 1855 and 1888.

There were a couple Michael HONAN and Winnifred HEFFERNAN/HEFFERIN/HEFFORN/HEFFRIN  - parish records only.

Only one birth to this couple in 1861.  Nothing further to the limit of this index 1888.  Will search further.

There was another birth for a son in 1863 with  mother's name incorrectly transcribed as Hannah.  He died as an infant in 1863 and his death reg has mother Anastasia.  Nothing further I can see at the moment on the indexes for this lady.   If it is her did she form a relationship with DAWSON?

I think that the palce of birth is Goulburn which if in Victoria would mean somewhere around the river of that name , in NSW there is a town of that name.

for  Ann A Noonan father Michael mother Eliza which is an extracted record from a church record.

Can't locate a marraige for an Oliver Dawson in either NSW or Victoria.And none for Ann(e) (?)oran etc in Victoria that might match. too quick cando

Nor a birth of a William Oliver Dawson in Victoria, in NSW there is a William Dawson, born in 1864 at Braidwood to William and Ann. #6771

Thanks for your replys Cando interesting. She married at 18 which would have made her 20 when she had the child that diedPerhaps that child was never mentioned for various resaons because the child who came out to nz with his parents was born in1866 so a decent amount of time between births Perhaps her name is anastasia perhaps she had an affair but oliver stuck with her pehaps they never were married which is why they came out to nz He was pretty wild by all accounts alsorts of perhaps Makes family research intersting Again thanks for replys  Hereford

Robyn your are correct about the Goulburn River area....could be anywhere between Mt Buller and the Murray River...but the 1849 parish record was for Kilmore parish which is not far from Seymour which is on the Goulburn River.

It would be interesting to find the shipping records for Oliver DAWSON's journey to New Zealand.
