COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 25 July 10 14:04 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I am searching a new line in my family tree who originated in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.  I am hoping to go down there to find out more about them and was wondering if anyone could help me on my way?

I am looking for a marriage for Peter Perry to his wife Sarah (surname unknown) in the early 1820's.  If anyone has the resources and the time to look this up it will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Ann-Marie

Hi Ann-Marie

If no one is going to HALS and can help, you might consider contacting them online.  This marriage is on the online Herts Marriage Index.  If you click on add to basket, they will send you a copy of the marriage entry for £5.

Go to;

https://www.hertsdirect.org/ufs/ufsmain?esessionid=2&formid=HALS_INDEXES

Then select "Marriages (1538 - 1922) " from the Advanced search menu on the right hand side of the page.

At this date you should glean the following information.

*Name of Bride & Groom.
*Date of Marriage.
*Whether the couple were married by banns or licence.
*Marital Status of couple;  i.e. single or widowed
*Whether or not they were "of the parish"  (Even if someone was "of the parish" it did not necessarily mean that they were born there.  It only means that it was their current parish of settlement.)
*Names of 2 marriage witnesses.

Rick :)
