Hi Rosie,

If you look at the marriage 1891 Worksop for Levi Burrows, there should be 8 people listed,
however if you count the two entries for Fred Kebble/s as ONE ENTRY, you have 4 males
but only 2 females - so 2 are missing.

I did try to find Ada on Ancestry lists without success.

I think if you apply for the marriage certificate, you can state who the wife should be
and if Levi did not marry Ada Kenyon they do it at at reduced fee.

Hi all  :)

Ada and Levi are already married in 1891, when Miss Kenyon is still single, so I think it's a red herring unfortunately (marriage Levi Burrows - Ada Maugham)

As I said I looked at the GRO index for that quarter and there were no Ada Kenyons listed, I was aware that all the entries had not been transcribed on freebmd that is why I looked at the GRO index.
Since the price of certificates increased the only place that you are likely to get details checked such as wifes name is local register offices the GRO no longer offer this facility

No problem  ;D

What do you think - there is a census entry in Hove Sussex in 1901
RG13/936/64/25
Ada Kenyon age 24 (I know that's wrong) Ladys maid born Yorkshire NK
living with the Sassoon family
I haven't managed to work out who she is in 1891

added  if it is her she could have gone abroad with the family after this  ???

Well DD and I think Hove is a possibility, she may have lied about her age.

In 1891 she is staying with her sister Annie Mapletoft in Clowne, Derbyshire.

Going back to Frederick Sykes, there is a Frederick Sykes with a 25 year old Ada in Linthwaite Yorkshire, wrong age again and she is recorded as born in Linthwaite, occupation is right though, dressmaker but were they ten a penny in those days?

Then there is the 34 year old with Tom H Carr, why would she add six years to her age?

Yesterday I came up with some records where the age hadn't been recorded properly but can't do it today! Any ideas?

Also could anyone look the above up for 1911 and see if any are recorded as being born in Anston?

Thanks for all your help so far.  :)

Jopeg,

Don't know if you've already seen them, but the Genuki page for South Anston, in West Yorkshire, includes a transcription of the parish's BMD registers.

According to that, Ada was baptised on 6 October 1872, the daughter of George and Keziah Kenyon, George being a collier. So it looks like the census age is the right one.

Yes, that is her, it is the 1901 censuses that don't add up!

Hello Jopeg

There's a marriage for Ada Kenyon in Dec qtr. 1891 at Ecclesall Bierlow to either Frederick Sykes or Tom Harry Carr. Ref: 9c 577. Mike

Looks like that one married Tom Harry Carr - 1901 has her living in Ecclesall Bierlow age 34 born Sheffield.

Rosie

I would not think that she is yours at all as there is this birth which ties in with her
 Jun quarter 1866

KENYON  Ada     Ecclesall Bierlow reg district   9c 286
